What we do

Log home restoration, staining & chinking

Not sure which one your house needs? Send us a photo of the worst wall and we will tell you straight.

01

Sanding & staining

Grey, peeling logs back to rich, even wood.

We take the old coating and weathered wood off with grinders and sanders until the timber is clean. Then the stain goes on by hand and gets brushed in, so it soaks into the grain instead of peeling off the top. You pick the colour on your own wall, in daylight, before we start.

02

Chinking

Keep the drafts and the water out of your walls.

Chinking seals the gaps between your logs, and hardly anyone in the Sea to Sky still does it properly. We lay a clean, even bead between every course and seal around windows, doors and log joints. 25+ years of it, from Squamish to Pemberton Meadows.

03

Log restoration

Save the logs you have instead of replacing them.

We cut out rot, firm up soft timber with epoxy, and swap in new logs only where the old ones are too far gone. Washing, bleaching and mould treatment too. Repairs come first, so the stain goes on once and stays on.

Before & after

Log home staining that brings grey wood back.

This is what sanding and staining actually does. Grey, weather-beaten timber taken back to bare and refinished — no replacement, no filler, the same wood you already own.

Silvered, checked and dry. Left much longer and this stops being a finish problem and starts being a repair.
After The same timber posts after log home sanding and staining in Whistler BC
Sanded clean, stained and back-brushed. Even colour, with the grain and knots showing through — that is the point.

About

Tyson Duck, and a crew he actually trains.

01

Grew up in a timber yard

Tyson has been around logs and log homes his whole life. This is not a painting company that also does logs. It is the only trade he has ever worked.

02

He is on the wall, not in an office

The person who quotes your house is the person sanding it. Nothing gets handed to a sub you never met.

03

A small crew, taught the same way

New hands learn chinking, sanding and finishing properly before they are trusted with an elevation. That is why the work looks the same on every wall.

04

Local to the corridor

Born and raised in BC, and working the Sea to Sky corridor all his life. He is based between Whistler and Pemberton, and he knows what this weather does to a south wall because he has watched it for years.

Who we work with

Homeowners

Your place is going grey on the south and west walls. That is the finish giving up, and it gets expensive once it turns into rot.

  • Send the address and a photo of the worst wall
  • You get a straight answer on full strip versus a maintenance coat
  • One crew, start to finish, no subs on your property

Contractors

Log and timber is the part most crews would rather not touch. Bring us in as the sub and it stops being your problem.

  • We carry our own scaffold and work to three storeys
  • Used to working alongside other trades on live sites
  • Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish, all season
